Superior arrivals and increased getting have lifted pepper rates by ₹2 for each kg in Kochi on Tuesday, realising an ordinary selling price of ₹311 for ungarbled varieties.
The offtake was 30 tonnes and there were far more customers than sellers in the marketplace. MG1 garbled varieties realised ₹331, even though new pepper was quoted at ₹301.
On the other hand, traders have raised an apprehension to maintain the enhancement in arrivals in the coming times adhering to the orders issued to dealers who are working in spices by yourself in Idukki to down their shutters.
