France’s Macron Seeks to Restart His Economic Agenda

PARIS—President Emmanuel Macron’s freshly shaped federal government has resumed negotiations with unions on his proposal to overhaul France’s pension system, placing an explosive situation again on the table as the region navigates the well being and economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

Jean Castex, whom Mr. Macron named key minister last week, met with the leaders of France’s biggest unions Thursday to discuss the overhaul, which was shelved in March as the region went into lockdown.
